Product Introduction

Cosmetic Chemical Solvents

Solvents for cosmetic formulations to improve blendability and stability. You can find a solvent that will dissolve cosmetic ingredients more fully into your product for a smooth feel and easy absorption. Solvents are an indispensable component of liquid, paste and cream cosmetics such as balms, snow creams, perfumes, emollients and toners. They mainly play a solubilizing role in products to give them certain physical properties and dosage forms, and also usually have multiple roles such as volatilization, wetting, lubrication, plasticization, fragrance preservation, antifreeze and astringency. Many solid cosmetic products also need solvents to cooperate, such as powder products need solvents to assist in the production process of gluing; cosmetic fragrances, pigments often need to use solvents for uniform dispersion.

Cosmetic Solvent Raw Materials

Solvent raw materials mainly include water, alcohols and ketones, ethers, esters and other aromatic organic compounds.

  • Water

Water is a good solvent, the most commonly used solvent in cosmetics is high-quality deionized water, different cosmetic requirements for water also vary.

  • Alcohols

Alcohols are solvents for fragrances, oils and fats. High-carbon alcohols, low-carbon alcohols and polyols are commonly used in cosmetics. High-carbon alcohols can be used directly as oily raw materials, but also as raw materials for the synthesis of surfactants. Low-carbon alcohols can make cosmetics with a sense of coolness and have a bactericidal effect. Polyols are mainly used as solvents for fragrances, fragrance fixing agents, viscosity adjusters, freezing point depressants, moisturizers, etc.

  • Other types of compounds

Ketones, ethers, esters aromatic organic compounds of small and medium molecules of ketones, esters are usually used as solvent composition of nail polish, but there is generally some toxicity or irritation.
