About Carrier Excipients

Carrier Excipients

An excipient is any ingredient present in a pharmaceutical product or used in a product other than the active substance. Excipients are intended to function as carriers (carriers or bases) or components of active substances, and in so doing contribute to product attributes such as stability, biopharmaceutical performance, appearance, patient acceptability, and ease of manufacture of the product. Generally, more than one excipient is used in pharmaceutical formulations.

Carrier excipients are designed to interact with active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and enhance their performance. For example, particles with high fluidity and low hygroscopicity are ideal fillers for tablets and capsules. Excipients can also be used in the manufacturing process to aid in processing related active substances, for example by improving the fluidity or non-viscosity of the powder. Pharmaceutical regulations and standards require the determination of all ingredients in pharmaceutical products, their chemical breakdown products and their safety.

Application of Carrier Excipients

  • Tablet lubricant, lipid matrix for sustained release, coating for protection and taste masking. Oral solid dosage form of direct compression, dry granulation, film coating, hot melt extrusion, rolling, spheronization, supercritical fluid extraction.
  • Lipid matrix for sustained release, coating for protection and taste masking. Oral solid dosage forms of direct compression, dry granulation, film coating, hot melt extrusion, rolling, spheronization, supercritical fluid extraction, viscometer.

Function of Carrier Excipients

Binder, carrier, capsule filling, compaction, diluent, direct compression, dry granulation, filler, granulation, multifunctional, natural origin, powder mixture, tablet compressibility.

Flexible Tableting

  • Under low compression force, the tablet hardness is high, the tablet is firm, and the disintegration is rapid.
  • The unique particle surface makes the amount of API reach high and low levels.
  • Special auxiliary materials for direct compression, wet and dry granulation, film coating, lubrication, and rapid disintegration.

Optimize Drug Delivery of Carrier Excipients

Options for adjusting release kinetics, such as orally disintegrating tablets and oral solid sustained-release preparations.

Special excipients for different routes of administration, including dry powder inhalants.

Enhanced Solubility

  • Special excipients for hot-melt extrusion, special excipients to increase the dissolution rate in tablets, and silica drug carriers with unique surface structure.
  • Improve the solubility of raw materials to improve the efficacy of the final drug.
