Description
Azacitidine functions as a pyrimidine nucleoside analog that incorporates into DNA and RNA. Its primary action is inhibition of DNA methyltransferase, leading to global DNA hypomethylation and subsequent reactivation of silenced tumor suppressor genes. This promotes differentiation and apoptosis of abnormal hematopoietic cells.
