Description
DL-α-Tocopherol is the synthetic form of vitamin E, a fat-soluble compound. Chemically, it is a racemic mixture (approximately 1:1) of the eight possible stereoisomers of α-tocopherol. In contrast, the natural form (D-α-tocopherol) consists of a single stereoisomer (RRR-α-tocopherol). While the natural form generally exhibits higher biological activity, the synthetic DL form is more cost-effective to produce and is widely used in pharmaceutical formulations.

Applications
This product is used to prevent and treat vitamin E deficiency, which can occur due to conditions like fat malabsorption syndromes (e.g., cystic fibrosis, Crohn's disease, cholestatic liver disease), abetalipoproteinemia, or in very low-birth-weight premature infants. Deficiency can lead to neurological problems (ataxia, neuropathy) and hemolytic anemia.
