Description
Ferrous bisglycinate is an iron-amino acid chelate where ferrous iron (Fe²⁺) is chelated to two molecules of the amino acid glycine, functioning as an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and nutritional supplement. This chelated structure enhances iron stability in the gastrointestinal tract, maintains iron in a soluble form, and facilitates its absorption via amino acid transport pathways, resulting in higher bioavailability and reduced gastrointestinal side effects compared to conventional iron salts.

Applications
The Ferrous bisglycinate API is primarily used in the manufacture of oral solid (tablets, capsules) and liquid dosage forms for the prevention and treatment of iron-deficiency anemia. Its applications include dietary supplementation in populations with increased iron needs (pregnant women, children, and athletes), clinical management of anemia in patients with malabsorption disorders or chronic inflammatory conditions, and fortification of functional foods and nutraceuticals due to its improved tolerability and minimal interaction with dietary inhibitors.
