Product Details
Description
GW4869, the most widely used exosome inhibitor to date (also known as a sphingomyelinase inhibitor), has gained extensive adoption due to the growing research interest in exosomes.
Stability and Storage Conditions
Prolonged exposure to room Temperature will lead to rapid degradation and loss of function.
Product Description
GW4869 is a cell-permeable and non-competitive inhibitor of neutral sphingomyelinase (N-Smase), exhibiting an IC50 of 1 μM. It acts by blocking ceramide-induced multivesicular body (MVB) budding, thereby inhibiting the release of exosomes. This makes it a widely used drug for suppressing exosome generation. Research has found that GW4869 reduces amyloid plaque formation in vivo by impeding exosome secretion. Importantly, it demonstrates minimal toxicity at concentrations required to achieve its inhibitory effects on nSMase2.
