Stability and Storage Conditions
Stable at normal temperatures and pressures. Incompatible with strong acids and hydrogen fluoride.
Solubility
Insoluble in water and ethanol; easily decomposed by inorganic acids.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place in a tightly closed container.
Applications
Primarily used as an antacid, it neutralizes stomach acid and protects ulcerated areas, mainly for treating gastric and duodenal ulcers. It can also serve as a deodorizer and decolorizing agent. In food additives, it is used as an anti-caking agent, filtration aid, coating agent, candy polishing glaze, gum dusting agent, rice coating agent, and filler in dairy products.
