Applications
Octreotide acetate mimics somatostatin by binding to G-protein-coupled somatostatin receptors (primarily subtypes 2 and 5), thereby inhibiting the excessive secretion of various hormones and peptides (e.g., serotonin, GH, insulin, glucagon, gastrin, VIP) and reducing splanchnic blood flow.
