Product Introduction

Cosmetic Color Additives

Color additives used in cosmetics are generally inorganic pigments, which are powders that color other substances and which are insoluble in water, oil and solvents. Color precipitates are dyes or pigments that are insoluble in water and are formed mainly by precipitating water-soluble acidic dyes through metal salts or by making these metal salts adsorb to water-resistant pigments. Inorganic pigments are stronger in coloring power, covering power, solvent resistance and durability than color precipitates and are widely used in cosmetics such as lipstick, rouge and foundation. The main inorganic pigments used in cosmetics are white pigments such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide; colored pigments such as ferric oxide (red), chromium oxide (cyan), purple ultramarine (purple), ferrous hydroxide (yellow) and chromium oxide (green); black pigments such as carbon black and ferric tetroxide; pearlescent pigments such as fish scale flakes, titanium oxide, bismuth hydroxide and mica.
