Design Services for Solid-Self-Emulsifying Drug Delivery Systems

Self-emulsifying drug delivery systems (SEDDS) are formulations consisting of an oil phase, a non-ionic surfactant and a co-surfactant. The system can be emulsified rapidly in the gastrointestinal tract to produce fine droplets with particle size around 100 nm or less than 100 nm. Characteristics of self-microemulsifying drug delivery systems include: the formation of microemulsions is a spontaneous process that does not require the action of external energy; the amount of emulsifier is high and microemulsification is rapid and spontaneous; and the microemulsions formed have a long stability time.
