Polymer Nanosphere Modification

Polymeric nanospheres consist of dense polymeric matrices such as chitosan, poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) ( PLGA), poly(lactic acid) ( PLA) and poly(butyl cyanoacrylate) ( PBCA), which are widely used in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Active drug ingredients, either small molecules or biological compounds, can be encapsulated into nanospheres or attached to the particle surface for specific drug delivery applications, such as sustained release, targeted drug delivery, and API protection against premature degradation. The ionic cross-linking method is one of the basic methods for making nanospheres and is applicable to nanospheres made of chitosan, sodium alginate, etc. The main principle is that the material used as a drug carrier is precipitated from the emulsion by ionic cross-linking method, while the drug is encapsulated in the carrier by hydrogen bonding interactions and hydrophobic interactions, thus preparing into drug-carrying nanospheres.
