Protein-based Nanoparticles Design and Testing Services for Drug Delivery

CD Formulation is a team of professionals who provide drug delivery system development services to our clients. Our researchers have the core technologies related to drug delivery to help you better your drug development and effective drug delivery.

Background

Proteins exhibit unique functions and properties in the field of biomaterials and manufacturing and can be used as a base material for the production of nanoparticles. Protein nanoparticles are natural molecules that exhibit unique functions and properties in biomaterials, ranging in size from 1-100 nm. The types of proteins used to produce protein nanoparticles are: albumin, gelatin, wheat gliadin, elastin, legumes, lipoproteins and ferritin.

Protein nanoparticles as drug delivery systems have the following characteristics:

  • Biodegradability, stability, ease of particle size control, and they are less associated with toxicity issues.
  • Their stability, activity and half-life can be improved by protecting the drug from enzymatic degradation and renal clearance.
  • Protein nanoparticles can be incorporated into biodegradable polymers in a microsphere structure for controlled and sustained release.
  • Because protein nanoparticles are non-antigenic, they can be used for a variety of targeted therapies, such as lung delivery, cancer therapy, oncology, and vaccines.

Our Services

CD Formulation provides protein nanoparticle design and protein nanoparticle materialization testing services, as well as solutions to help our customers better develop and effectively deliver their drugs.

Protein Nanoparticles Design Services

CD Formulation can perform the design of nanoparticles with the main objective of controlling the particle size, surface area and surface properties so that the nanoparticles carrying the necessary amount of drug exert the desired pharmacological activity by releasing the active agent to achieve site specific effects.

Physical and Chemical Testing of Protein Nanoparticles

CD Formulation can provide nanoparticle size and distribution testing, infrared spectroscopy testing, analysis of pH and drug concentration effects on encapsulation efficiency, adsorption testing, in vitro drug release testing, and statistical analysis to analyze the physical, chemical, and biological properties of protein nanoparticles to determine if the material meets the requirements and standards, and to develop solutions based on the data from the tests.

Our specific services include the following:

Application of Protein Nanoparticles

Protein nanoparticles are used as carriers to deliver proteins, drugs, peptides, etc. through different drug delivery routes, including the following applications:

  • Non-viral gene delivery
  • Immune adjuvants
  • Antibiotics
  • Diseases (tuberculosis, leishmaniasis, cancer treatment, Parkinson's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.)
